The Wine Circle is one of those sites that it is difficult to change. Two years ago it was decided to update the site, make it responsive and reinstate the online store that had been dropped a while. First stage, Keerim Design had designs put in place. The only fixed concept was that the slider on the Home page that had been in place for four or five years should be replaced with a video.
Two redesigns later, both of which were not going to improve on the original, we have updated the original to make it responsive. It just goes to show that a good design is a good design. There have been some structural changes, but essentially it has been simplified and made it easier to ensure that the product catalogue is straightforward to update.
It has to be said that, realistically, it is a temporary fix. We have tried integrating with Drupal Commerce and Ubercart 3, but we think that the final solution will be a combination of WordPress and WooCommerce. That’s not going to happen until the New Year and is dependent on whether the owner can generate enough news content to sustain that type of blogging platform.
In the meantime the site exists and much effort is being put into emails, Facebook and Twitter.
